Neil deGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist, science communicator, director of the Hayden Planetarium, an astrophysics research associate at the American Museum of Natural History, the host of PBS's "NOVA scienceNOW" and the host of the StarTalk Radio Show. A native of New York City, Tyson earned degrees from University, the University of Texas at Austin and Columbia, and has received the NASA Distinguished Public Service Award, the Isaac Asimov Award and over a dozen honorary degrees. He is the author of several books, including "Death by Black Hole and Other Cosmic Quandaries" (2007), "The Pluto Files: The Rise and Fall of America's Favorite Planet" (2009) and "Space Chronicles" (2012). He has been named one of the 50 Most Important African-Americans in research science, one of the 100 Most Influential Harvard alumni and the Sexiest Astrophysicist Alive (People Magazine, 2000).
