Peter Bergen is a journalist, author and CNN's national security analyst. His books include "Holy War, Inc." (2002), "The Osama bin Laden I Know" (2006), "The Longest War: The Enduring Conflict Between America and al-Qaeda" (2011) and "Manhunt: The Ten-Year Search for Bin Laden, from 9/11 to Abbottabad" (2012). In 1997, working for CNN, Bergen produced the nation's first television interview with Osama Bin Laden. The interview marked the first time bin Laden declared war against the United States to a Western audience. Bergen is the director of the National Security Studies Program at the New America Foundation, a non-partisan think tank in Washington, D.C. He is also a research fellow at New York University's Center on Law and Security. In 2008, he was an adjunct lecturer at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and an adjunct professor at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University between 2003 and 2007.
